Tonight, the royal family is hosting a formal state banquet at Buckingham Palace in honor of President Donald Trump's official visit to the United Kingdom. As with most state banquets, the ladies of the royal family have brought out their most serious jewels for the royal affair: sparkling tiaras.

The President and First Lady are currently on a three-day visit to the country, during which they will meet with numerous members of royal family. Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are all in attendance at tonight's banquet.

The Queen arrived wearing Burmese ruby and diamond tiara, paired with a ruby and diamond necklace, both of which are part of a suite of jewels crafted by Garrard. The tiara features 96 rubies that were a gift to the Queen from the people of Burma. In 1973, the Queen commissioned House of Garrard to create a tiara out of these pieces. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall wore a sparkling Diamond Boucheron tiara for the occasion.

Formal state banquets are one of the rare occasions where royals typically wear tiaras. One of the most recent tiara-worthy occasions was back in October 2018, when the royal family was hosting a banquet in honor of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. For that elegant affair, Queen Elizabeth wore the historic Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, while Camilla wore the Greville tiara. Queen Maxima brought some sparkle of her own, wearing the Stuart tiara for the evening.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge also wore the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara for the Dutch state dinner last October. The design has quickly become one of Kate's go-to tiaras-the Duchess previously wore the tiara to a diplomatic reception in 2015, and to another state banquet when the Spanish royal family visited the United kingdom in 2017. The classic style was also a favorite of Princess Diana's.

For the Dutch state visit banquet in October 2018, the Duchess paired the topper with an Alexander McQueen dress and a dramatic necklace that dates back to 1863, having once belonged to Queen Alexandra.
