Princess Diana is still making fashion waves 26 years after her tragic death in Paris, France.

The renowned auction service Sotheby's has announced that a sweater worn by the late Lady Di will be offered through the organization's online auction system. The "black sheep sweater" is expected to command a bid of up to $80,000 once it hits the internet.

Diana famously wore the red sweater while watching her then-fiancé play polo in June 1981. The sweater is decorated with lines of white sheep with one black sheep leading a line toward the bottom.

At the time, Diana was one of the most well-known women in the world, and anything she wore nearly immediately sold out. Designers Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne, who made the sweater for their line Warm and Wonderful, were stunned when they received an official letter from Buckingham Palace weeks after Diana had debuted their design.

In the letter, palace officials explained that Diana had damaged the sweater in some way and asked if it could be repaired or if she could receive a new one. The women were happy to do so, and Diana was again photographed wearing the new sweater in 1983.

Cynthia Houlton, who works as Sotheby's global head of fashion and accessories, told the Associated Press that "this exceptional garment, meticulously preserved, carries the whispers of Princess Diana’s grace, charm, and her keen eye for fashion." The sweater is expected to bring in at least $50,000 through auction, and estimates run up all the way to $80,000.

If $80,000 is a bit out of your clothing budget this year but you still want to emulate all things Diana, there's hope. While Diana's original sweater was knitwear, the brand offers a very similar cotton version printed with the same design for $195.
