John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) made it through the last shift curse before his wedding on The Rookie, but the bad luck continued to follow him the next day as he and Bailey Nune (Jenna Dewan) were trying to get everything shifted from their home wedding to the spiritual center owned by Aaron Thorsen’s (Tru Valentino) family.

The wedding had to be moved because the man who had just bought the house next door was knocking it down and the noise from the bulldozers was going to be too much. But when John and Bailey arrived at the spiritual center, their wedding planner told them that they were going to have to upscale everything. It was gorgeous but the size of it meant additions and she couldn’t manage it all because she was having a meltdown because of problems with her partner.

So, John and Bailey went to meet the DJ, but John had to arrest him because he was also a drug dealer; the wedding cake came a day early and was the wrong flavor, so instead of a bridal shower, Bailey had a cake baking party; and John’s male friends came over to help with floral arrangements because the florist had sold their flowers to someone else when he couldn’t get ahold of them.

But those weren’t the only things that went wrong. Henry (Zayne Emory), John’s son and best man, had his flight canceled when his airline went out of business; John’s half-brother Pete (Pete Davidson) wasn’t able to make it because he had a warrant out on him for too many parking tickets, so he sent Randy (Flula Borg). Randy got crazy and pawned Bailey’s wedding ring but before he could buy it back, a man named The Hammer bought it. Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) and Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) went to retrieve it since it was “stolen property” but The Hammer made Tim fight him for it.

And one more bit of craziness. Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave) is suing John for how he was treated while in his custody and the deposition was that morning. Wesley Evers (Shawn Ashmore) was representing John and things might have gone smoothly but Oscar changed attorneys. Monica (Bridget Regan) is his new attorney, and we know that that spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Monica demanded John’s phone because it contains “evidence,” so he was without a phone all day. Hence the problem with the florist.

And then, just as it looked as if it was all going to come together, the minister got caught in traffic and wasn’t going to be able to make it. Randy volunteered to take over—he was ordained through some weird church—but Sgt. Grey (Richard T. Jones) put an end to that, and he married them.

The wedding vows were romantic and wonderful:

Bailey went first. She told John, “There is nothing, literally nothing else in my life I am so certain of as marrying you. I must have written 100 different vows and thrown them all away because there were too many words and the way you make me feel is so simple to express. I feel loved and seen and desired and happy and for that, I will love you forever and a day.”

And John replied, “You came into my life in a towel on my doorstep with an unlikely story of being locked out by a meddlesome dog. I remember thinking I am either being conned by a hot model or I just met the woman of my dreams. You are damn right I love and cherish you. You are the most impressive person I have ever met, and I wake up every morning to the dream of being your man. I promise that making you happy will be my everyday everything.”

Then the party started, and all was going well until Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez) got a call from a CI and got kidnapped. She was able to call Nyla Harper (Mekia Harper) just before, so the party was over for the the police as they rushed out to rescue Celina.

She was saved and John finally made it home to his bride, who was still in her wedding gown, lying on the bed. John laid down next to her and asked, “How long until we have to be at the airport.” Bailey told him, “Four hours.”

John asked their virtual assistant for a one-hour timer, but he and Bailey fell asleep so quickly, they didn’t hear the VA say, “I didn’t get that.” Looks like they will be missing the plane to their honeymoon.

The Rookie airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
