In her post, Bynes still did not reveal the man's name, but per the Blast, his name is Paul Michael, and Bynes met him while attending Alcoholics Anonymous. The Blast also says the engagement is legitimate—after fans were speculating whether this was a joke from Bynes.

The Blast also says that Bynes and Michael have reportedly been dating for a couple of months.

In December, Bynes, an infrequent poster on Instagram, revealed that she had gotten a face tattoo of her heart on her left cheek and has mostly posted selfies since then. She has been living in a sober-living facility for the past several months, E! confirmed in September of last year.

During a November 2018 interview with Paper, her first public interview in years, Bynes, who at the time was finishing up her degree at Fashion Institute (FIDM) in Los Angeles, told the magazine that she regrets her infamous announcement on Twitter that she was retiring from acting. She said she made the announcement after she haw the last film she was in, Easy A(2010).

"I saw it. and I was convinced that I should never be on camera again and I officially retired on Twitter, which was, you know, also stupid," she told Paper. "If I was going to retire [the right way], I should've done it in a press statement—but I did it on Twitter. Real classy! But, you know, I was high and I was like, 'You know what? I am so over this' so I just did it. But it was really foolish and I see that now. I was young and stupid."
