IFC Films has dropped off the first-look image for writer and director Brit McAdams' comedy film Paint, starring Owen Wilson in the role of a famed, Bob Ross-like painting guru.

In the forthcoming film, Wilson depicts Carl Nargle, the No. 1 public television painter in Vermont. With his legion of fans, signature hair style and custom van, Nargle feels like he is on top of the world — until a younger and more talented painter enters the scene, threatening to take everything he has.

Aside from Wilson, the film stars Michaela Watkins (Casual), Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids), Ciara Renée (Legends of Tomorrow), Lusia Strus (Search Party), Stephen Root (Barry) and Lucy Freyer.

"We’re thrilled to finally work with the boundless and versatile talent of Owen Wilson, as he effortlessly brings Carl Nargle’s character to life from a savvy script and direction by Brit McAdams," said Arianna Bocco, president of IFC Films, in a statement via Deadline. "Paint has all the makings of a quotable comedic masterpiece, and we hope audiences of all ages are ready for a lot of laughs and a lot of heart.”

Paint will hit theaters on April 28, 2023, via IFC Flims, before streaming on AMC+ later in the year. Take a first look at Wilson's transformation above.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Quentin Tarantino has revealed plans to develop an eight-episode TV series next year.
