See The Nike Book 1 Get Deconstructed

Seven new signature sneaker lines were launched between NBA and WNBA players in 2023. Of all the new models hitting the market, few are more highly anticipated than Devin Booker's first signature hoop shoe with Nike. However, the rollout has been clunky at best.

Drake debuted the Nike Book 1 in the 'Orange Clay' colorway during a concert in Arizona. But Booker failed to capitalize on the momentum when he opted to wear Converse Chuck Taylors at the 2023 NBA Media Day. Then fans were disappointed to learn that the 'Orange Clay' colorway would only be released in 500 pairs this month.

While not many athletes and fans have gotten their hands on the Nike Book 1, a popular sneaker expert has already broken down and analyzed the performance model. Check out Zach Thomas' Instagram post below.

We salute Thomas for dissecting a 1/500 shoe in dedication to his craft. Thanks to his hard work, we can see the size of the heel Zoom Air unit, the weight of the midfoot shank plate, and how the ventilation will work for the mysterious shoe.

Thomas added in the caption, "Serrations on the bottom of the midsole foam actually do make the shoe more forgiving with running north to south- they also will act as mini stress risers for foam creasing - whether or not that will be an issue remains to be seen but I’m guessing like most things on a shoe’s midsole, it’ll be weight-dependent."

Be sure to support Thomas' work by following him on social media, as not many people have even touched Booker's kicks (much less destroyed them in the name of research). Stay locked into Men's Journal Sneakers for all your footwear news.
