Although she has always been naturally beautiful – why else would she catch the eye of Prince William at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland back in 2001? – Kate Middleton has changed a lot, and has undergone quite the style evolution over the years!

Since getting engaged in November 2010 and tying the knot in April 2011, Kate Middleton, 41, has adopted a more elegant and demure sense of style, which only seems to be getting more enviable by the day. The Princess of Wales wore her first tiara – Queen Elizabeth II’s Cartier Halo tiara, if you must know – on her wedding day, and has since worn tiaras on many other occasions since then. She has also worn some truly sensational ensembles over the years, with one of the most recent being royal regalia on top of a custom Alexander McQueen dress for King Charles’ coronation in May, 2023.

Before marrying into the royal family, the mom-of-three was fond of more casual and revealing ensembles. We’re not talking hotpants and crop tops – although the green sequined top and yellow short-shorts she wore to a fancy dress Day-Glo Midnight Roller Disco party in 2008 certainly came close – but are referring to things like strappy tank tops, plunging necklines, and short hemlines, all of which would be against royal protocol now.

(Of course we know that the Duchess of Cambridge likes to break royal protocol from time to time too, such as wearing dresses with revealing slits and breaking with tradition and opting for red nail polish as opposed to the late Queen Elizabeth II's approved neutral shades.)

On June 27th, the TikTok account @the.royal.watcher even compiled a video of Kate Middleton's style evolution from before her royal wedding to Prince William and now, and the difference is quite mind-blowing! Some of the changes in her appearance may be down to the times and trends changing, as the Princess of Wales has always been en-vogue and kept a watchful eye on the latest trends, while others are definitely down to her becoming a royal.

In the TikTok video, some of the earlier pictures saw the future Queen of England rocking some very thin eyebrows, heavy black eyeliner, and a very obvious tan, as was the trend back then, while the more recent pictures show her with fuller brows, subtler eye makeup, and paler skin. The more we look at throwback pictures of Kate, such as this picture posted by Instagram account @kate.my.princess which shows her wearing a black one-shouldered ensemble, the more we realize just how much her hair and makeup game has changed over the years. But styling choices aside, looking at side by side before and after pictures, such as the one we put together below, make it clear to see that she hasn’t actually changed much. She has been and always will be a natural beauty!

Kate Middleton's fans constantly rave about her never-ending beauty, with most agreeing that she actually gets better as the years go on. Fans had nothing but praise for the Princess of Wales in the comments section of the aforementioned TikTok video, and made it clear that they thought she was beautiful then and is beautiful now.
