See All the Looks From the 2023 FIDM Graduate Runway Show
Fashion schools across the country have their graduating students show off their skills in end-of-semester runways. The latest is Los Angeles-based Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), which hosted its annual "Debut" show, highlighting the work of 11 designers in the Advanced Study Fashion Design program (which is a competitive add-on to the school's Associate of Arts degree).
In a colorful womenswear collection titled "Revoir," HyeRin Lee found the beauty in different milestones in life. Cyncir "Foxxi" Pollard's "Weaponized Femininity" spoke to their journey as a nonbinary Black femme, showing gratitude for those who paved the way before them. Keagan Roberson's looks spoke to his experiences growing up queer and in the South, while Jacob Yadidi's "Blood on the Throat Plate" responded to anti-Semitism. Alexander Ziemba focused on conceptuality and texture, as Monica Nakatani drew inspiration from Japanese folklore.
