Lady Gaga has taken on many roles in her career. From playing a vampire on the FX anthology series American Horror Story to an aspiring singer on A Star Is Born, the Grammy-Award winner continues to prove that she is a talented actress in her own right. And now, the musician is set to star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in a brand-new movie.

This week, the “Rain on Me” singer, 36, released the first photo of herself and Phoenix in Joker: Folie à deux, which is the follow-up film to the 2019 smash hit Joker.

The photo offers a glimpse of Gaga as Harley Quinn and Phoenix as the Joker. The pic shows Harley holding the Joker’s face while they gaze into each other’s eyes.

We first learned about the new movie last year when Gaga posted a black-and-red video on her Instagram page. The clip showed black silhouettes of her character joining forces with Phoenix’s Joker before the title of the sequel and the release date (October 4, 2024) flashed across the screen.

In the DC comics, Harley Quinn is the Joker’s former psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum. Harley falls in love with him and becomes his accomplice. Margot Robbie has played the role of Harley in films like Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey.

Joker follows Batman’s arch nemesis, Arthur Fleck, and his transition from failed stand-up comedian to a psychotic villain. The movie was met with positive reviews from critics and became a box-office success following its release—earning $1 billion and becoming the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2019.

We can see it now: Lady Gaga is going to kill this role.
