See King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Official Coronation Portraits

Following the coronation at Westminster Abbey, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and members of the royal family posed for official coronation portraits in Buckingham Palace. The four portraits were taken by Hugo Burnand, who also photographed the wedding of then-Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.

There are two individual portraits of King Charles and Queen Camilla. King Charles’s portrait shows the King in full regalia in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. Seated on a throne chair, Charles wears the Robe of Estate and the Imperial State Crown and holds the Sovereign’s Orb and Sovereign’s Sceptre With Cross. Queen Camilla is pictured in Buckingham Palace’s Green Drawing Room, wearing Queen Mary’s Crown and Robe of Estate.

King Charles and Queen Camilla posed for a portrait together in the Throne Room and together with senior working royals. From left to right in the big group shot is the Duke of Kent, the Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Gloucester, Sir Tim Laurence, Princess Anne, the King, the Queen, Prince William, the Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Alexandra, and Prince Edward. Prince Harry, as he is no longer a senior working royal, did not appear in the portraits.

Along with the portraits, Buckingham Palace released a message from the newly crowned King. “As the coronation weekend draws to a close, my wife and I just wanted to share our most sincere and heartfelt thanks to all those who have helped to make this such a special occasion,” King Charles wrote.

He continued, “We pay particular tribute to the countless people who have given their time and dedication to ensuring that the celebrations in London, Windsor, and further afield were as happy, safe, and enjoyable as possible.”

Charles ended his message by saying, “To those who joined in the celebrations—whether at home, at street parties and lunches, or by volunteering in communities—we thank you, each and every one. To know that we have your support and encouragement and to witness your kindness expressed in so many different ways, has been the greatest possible coronation gift, as we now rededicate our lives to serving the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms, and Commonwealth.”
