  • The Tiger King prominently features a man named Doc Antle, who runs the Myrtle Beach Safari and an organization called T.I.G.E.R.S.

  • His son, Kody Antle, is a popular influencer on Instagram and even more so on TikTok.

  • Because he grew up in such close proximity with these animals, Antle has been referred to as a 'real-life Tarzan.'

One of the most bizarre characters in Netflix's The Tiger King is Doc Antle, a tiger trainer, and founder of both the Myrtle Beach Safari and The Institute for Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (or T.I.G.E.R.S.). Antle has been written about a lot through the years, and is one of the leaders in getting animals to perform for online content; he's also featured prominently inThe Tiger King (where you can judge him and everything he's about for yourself). Another member of his family though, Kody Antle, is perhaps even more famous than his dad thanks to the internet.

Kody has been referred to as "real-life Tarzan" by both himself and others, due to his nature of growing up in his father's manufactured environment. "He was raised here on the preserve, with tiger cubs and monkey cubs in his crib," a tour guide named Mari said in a 2015 Rolling Stone story. "So that’s a real-life Tarzan."

He's also extremely popular online, with 1.8 million followers on his Instagram account and 11.4 million more on his TikTok. In fact, he was even featured once on Good Morning America:

His social media posts typically find him interacting with animals, which he often refers to as his family. In this one, he carries a tiger on his back, tagging it "My Sister Amba."

His content gets upped a notch on TikTok, where he adds music to his animal content.

Dare I say it, his online persona seems extremely pure. But upon watching The Tiger King on Netflix and learning more about his father, people seem to be seeing Kody in a different light—or at least raising something of an eyebrow.
