You Need To See The Inside Of This School Bus Turned Tiny Home

Quite frankly, if you're dreaming of transitioning to tiny living, you have close to zero excuses anymore. As long as you aren't afraid to get your hands a little dirty and DIY, you could live large in a converted home.

I've seen food trucks and Greyhound buses made into tiny homes, even children's playhouses that (with some solar paneling and running water) could make tiny living pretty sick. But there's just something so nostalgic about a humble abode made from a 118-square-foot school bus.

According to Kai and Julie, it was by accident that they found their new home on the side of the street in Berlin, Germany. But when they discovered how unique the U.S. school bus was compared to the larger European buses, they had to buy it.

After stripping the bus "down to the bare metal," Kai and Julie began the conversion. The style ended up being "shabby chic" they wrote for Apartment Therapy, adding that they took most of their inspo from Instagram and Youtube. "We looked at other bus conversions but drew a lot of inspiration from tiny house builders."

In the end, they really took DIYing to the next level, learning to essentially build a home at a smaller scale - insulation, plumbing, electric installation, and more. "We had the Tiny House idea in our heads for quite some time," they wrote, "but there was always the problem of where to put it; we didn't want to be stationary. The bus gives us the best of both worlds."

Check out the inside and get inspired to BYOB - build your own bus, of course.
