See Fenty Beauty Body Lava on a Variety of Skin Tones

By now, you've likely witnessed the takeover of Fenty Beauty's Body Lava on your Instagram feed. (To be sure, it's not a complaint — especially given the fact that the luminous liquid illuminator looks incredible on virtually every skin tone.) The two shades, Who Needs Clothes? (a glistening peachy gold) and Brown Sugar (a decadent bronze), have already sold out, been restocked, and sold out again in less than a week of hitting counters, and the product is currently is enjoying over 10,000 Loves on its Sephora.com page. Needless to say, Rihanna has done it again.

After copious swatching (and subsequent oohs and aahs), I can personally confirm that Body Lava is every bit as gorgeous IRL as it is on my iPhone screen; on my light-medium skin, Who Needs Clothes? reads as a pearly luminous sheen — like my skin but with the exposure level turned all the way up.

On the other hand, the gold sparkles from Brown Sugar literally transformed my arm into a living, breathing, belongs-in-the Louvre bronzed sight. It's worth noting that while Rihanna used two pumps of product in her demo video for her shoulder alone, it only took one pump to impart a noticeable dose of micro-fine glitter on my arms. From afar, it looks like my skin on a good day, but up close it is not the least bit subtle. It's also smells like the most delicious cake frosting ever.

In the days following launching the launch of the buzzy new product, Twitter users had a lot to say about the pricing of the molten body illuminators, which retail for $59 each. However, clearly people are willing to invest in order to glow à la RiRi. Scroll down to see the Body Lava on 12 different skin tones — each of them worthy of appearing in a Fenty campaign, IMO.
