Christina Hall and James Bender created an epic closet that all Barbie lovers and fashionistas will envy. During the finale of HGTV's Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, the designers brought the iconic Mattel doll's dream closet to life. Packed with fun features, it'll make you want to give your own bedroom closet a playful, innovative update.

The Christina on the Coast costars were tasked with creating a closet inspired by Barbie's past, present, and future, meaning they pretty much had free reign compared with the other design teams in the competition series who were told to focus on only one decade for their spaces. "James and I have collectively remodeled hundreds of houses, and a lot of the houses we do, they kind of want the same thing," Hall said during the episode. "So for me, this is a dream come true because I want to be able to step outside the box and do something incredible."

Hall also stated that the design duo loves to pull from different eras, so they couldn't have been given better parameters. Their resulting space puts Barbie's outfits of the past on display, similar to the showcase design of the 2023 Barbie dream house closet. For a bigger wow moment, they added a life-size Barbie box with a special gown on loan from Mattel. The dress (that Hall got to try on!) is inspired by the Generations of Dreams 2009 Barbie doll, which celebrated the toy's fiftieth anniversary. A sitting area furnished with vintage chairs sourced from a Palm Springs shop adds a touch of luxury and romance to the space. But the real showstoppers in the closet are the toyetic features, which the show defines as "toylike features that often serve a dual purpose." Hall and Bender incorporated two: an ATM for accessories and beverages (inspired by Cher Horowitz's Clueless closet) and a hat carousel.

While the closet is incredibly fun, the judges did make some fair points regarding its real-life functionality. Judge and interior designer Jonathan Adler noted that the room doesn't have any mirrors, which are quite crucial when selecting an outfit. Judge and fashion designer Christian Siriano added that there wasn't hanging space for Barbie's everyday clothes.

Hall and Bender were competing against Luxe for Less stars Michel Smith Boyd and Anthony Elle Williams, who designed Barbie's first-ever office space. While Hall and Bender's closet won the first round, the winning space of the entire competition series was the party backyard designed by 100 Day Dream Home stars Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt.
