In her years creating elegant interiors for clients across the United States—not to mention her stint as a judge on the HBO Max series Ellen’s Next Great Designer—the Los Angeles–based interior designer Brigette Romanek has learned a thing or two about what people expect from their furniture. “There are so many beautiful pieces out there,” the ELLE DECOR A-List designer tells us. “But so often [they feel too] trendy.”

So when an opportunity arose to design a furniture collection for Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams—a collaboration that is a first for the designer as well as for the company—she leaped at the opportunity. “I really wanted to focus on pieces that I felt could last for years and years to come,” Romanek says.

The resulting eight-piece collection, unveiled this week, is just that—functional and timeless, with just the right dose of L.A. cool. Romanek’s Lucy daybed, for example, features Art Deco–inspired tubular cushions and is available in, among a range of other colors, a cheerful lemon-yellow performance velvet. The enveloping Dell swivel chair comes upholstered in a faux shearling, which is perfect for an elevated work-from-home setup but also for a cozy sitting room vignette.

Romanek describes the aesthetic of the line as “livable luxe”: “It’s a way to have something that’s really beautiful and timeless,” she explains. “Maybe in five years, you’ll switch out the fabric, but it’s still a piece that you want.”
