From The Pioneer Woman

Julia Child once said that "life itself is the proper binge." But we think she'd also want us to binge a new show all about her amazing life!

Julia, which is coming (hopefully) soon to HBO Max, is an exciting new drama series based on the beloved chef, cookbook author, and host of the pioneering cooking show The French Chef.

"We are so happy to help bring the incomparable Julia Child back to the small screen, when we need her more than ever,” Sarah Aubrey, head of original content for HBO Max, told Variety. "This show’s look into her life, marriage, and trailblazing career as she transformed the way we talk about food is an absolute delight. Our incredible cast and formidable creative team are a recipe for success, and we couldn’t be more excited.”

Same here! So here's the scoop.

What is "Julia" about?

If you're a fan of the hit 2009 movie Julie & Julia starring Meryl Streep as Julia Child and Amy Adams as her young emulator (aren't we all?), then you'll probably love this new show. Like the movie, the HBO Max series will delve into Julia's professional life as well as her personal life, including her famously lovely marriage with Paul Child.

Julia will also explore the culinary queen's acclaimed cooking show, The French Chef, which premiered on PBS in 1963 and ran for a decade.

Who’s in the cast?

Meryl is of course a tough act to follow but we know the great British actress Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax) will do Julia justice. Julia's husband, Paul, will be played by David Hyde Pierce (Hi, Niles from Frasier!), with Bebe Neuwirth and Isabella Rossellini rounding out the cast.

When is it coming out?

There isn't a set premiere date for the series yet. But production has reportedly already started and is scheduled to resume in Boston this spring, according to delish. The eight-episode season will air as a Max Original, and if all goes well, there will be more seasons of the show for dessert!

Another brilliant piece of advice from Julia was to "find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it." Well, we just found that something. We can't wait to watch Julia! How about you?
