Rian Johnson's mystery TV show Poker Face starring Natasha Lyonne was never imagined as a limited series. In fact, Johnson said, "There are infinite stories to tell. As people watch more and more episodes and realize how distinct each one is... there is endless possibility."

His dream for future seasons, he tells Town & Country, is "more of the same. The dream would be for Natasha and I to get older doing this. My biggest goal would be to just keep doing it."

In February 2023,NBC Universal (who owns Peacock) confirmed Poker Face will return for a second season. "Poker Face is one of those rare, undeniable shows that we all fell in love with from the start, but the critical acclaim and viewer response has been beyond our wildest dreams," Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content at NBCUniversal TV and streaming, said in a statement. "Working alongside the creative genius of Rian Johnson, Natasha Lyonne and Ram Bergman, along with our partners at MRC and T-Street, has been a spectacular ride, and we can’t wait to hit the road for another season as we continue to build momentum across Peacock’s originals slate."

Johnson shared the inspiration for Poker Face could be Murder, She Wrote, which starred Angela Lansbury as mystery writer Jessica Fletcher for twelve seasons. Johnson said, "I can imagine [Natasha] Jessica Fletcher-ing it. And I would be thrilled. But, we’ll see. I’ve learned: one step at a time. Let’s put this out there and see if people watch it first. But this is something that’s obviously built with an engine to keep on going."

Lyonne, too, would love to create more Poker Face episodes. At a panel for the Television Critics Association's winter press tour joked she wanted the show to run for 76 seasons. Her dream for season two, she told Town & Country, would be to continue to work with her co-star Benjamin Bratt. Bratt's dream? "That I'm in it!" he told T&C.

Lyonne's Charlie is "her own force of nature going through these stories," co-showrunner Lilla Zuckerman told Town & Country. "You probably know that Charlie is gonna get her man at the end of the day, she's going to solve this crime. But how she does it is always so surprising. We wanted to subvert the audience's expectations, because they might think that they know where we're going, but they do not. That, to me, is the pleasure of the show: All of those twists and turns and subverting expectations."

We'll update this as soon as we learn more about Poker Face season two.
