The cruel irony of enjoying Emily in Paris in the middle of a pandemic was that the romantic comedy from Sex and City creator Darren Star, which stars Lily Collins as the titular Emily, instantly made us want to book a one-way ticket to France. But when transatlantic flights were out of the question for most, the Emmy-nominated Netflix series—with its gorgeous shots inside of the Palais Garnier, on the banks of the Seine, and of course, in front of the sparkling Eiffel Tower—was more than enough to satisfy a little wanderlust from the comfort of your own living room.

Though a trip to Paris is now a bit more possible, viewers may still be longing for Emily's Paris even after finishing the first season. The series is extremely bingeable, so if you've blown through all the episodes, and are wondering if Emily's Parisian adventures will get a second chapter, here's what we know so far.

Our first look at season two features Emily and Mindy (Ashley Park) vacationing in Saint-Tropez, in the south of France. The pair attend fabulous parties, make new friends, and, of course, take many Instagram photos. Watch below.

Season two will premiere on December 22.

Just in time for a holiday binge, season two will premiere on Netflix just before Christmas. A snowed-in winter day seems like the perfect time to transport yourself to Saint-Tropez.

The show began production in May 2021.

Season one of Emily in Paris was shot entirely on location in Paris, and filming new episodes of the series was impacted by the global pandemic. But in October 2020, Star was optimistic that filming will resume in spring 2021. “If we get picked up, I hope we’ll be back in Paris next spring and things will ease up a little bit,” he told Glamour. “I think hopefully we’ll be in a better place by next spring. I really hope so.”

Lily Collins also spoke with Deadline about wanting to get back to set.

“We’re aiming to hopefully be going back soon. Hopefully in spring time. We’re trying to move forward. Again everything is [COVID-19] pending," she said. "When we got confirmed for season 2 it made us all even more excited and even more anxious to get back. Of course, there are so many regulations right now and we want to be safe, but we want to get back.”

They were both right. In early May 2021, the series confirmed it was back in production with a sweet video from the cast. Watch it here:

Production wrapped in August 2021.

After a few months of filming in Paris, production on the series wrapped in early August 2021. Lily Collins marked the special occasion on her Instagram, where she posted two sweet photos with costar and "partner in crime" Ashley Park.

"Last day on set and I can’t imagine wrapping on a more perfect note with my @emilyinparis partner in crime," Collins wrote. "I’m not crying, you’re crying!…"

New cast members and guest stars are joining season two.

According to Deadline, William Abadie, who played Antoine Lambert (the owner of Maison Lavaux, one of Emily's clients at Savoir) in season one, will return as a series regular. Additionally, the show will add British actor, Lucien Laviscount. Laviscount will play Alfie, a British-born cynic who "refuses to speak French, or immerse himself in French culture." Apparently, Alfie and Emily will begin their relationship on poor terms, until, in typical rom-com fashion, it evolves into something... more.

Playwright and actor Jeremy O. Harris is slated to guest star as a fashion designer and French actor Arnaud Binard will also appear as a "party boy owner of a popular Saint Tropez nightclub."

Season one ended on a cliffhanger.

No spoilers here, but when Emily and co. return to the small screen, there is plenty of story left to tell.

“The first season, we only had ten episodes to really explore her new friends at work and who she meets outside of work, so I’m excited to dive deeper into those back stories and spend more tie intermingling the two groups of people that she meets…” Collins said in a recent interview about next season's plot. “Now that we’ve seen her with all these ‘Parisisms’, maybe we get to actually get to a bit more of her backstory, and experience that with some of the other characters. But you always know with Emily you’re going to have humor and you’re going to have adventure. There’s going to be no shortage of that coming up—and great fashion.”

The show has been nominated for multiple awards.

At the Golden Globe Awards, the series was nominated for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, and Collins received an individual nod in the Best Actress in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical category, though did not win any prizes. And, at the 2021 Emmy Awards, the series received two nominations, including best comedy series. But the acclaim is a bit controversial. While extremely popular, the first season wasn't exactly a critical darling, and some have argued that other, snubbed series are perhaps more deserving of a nomination.
