Sebastian Stan Is Unrecognizable in His Latest Movie Transformation

Sebastian Stan has just teased his upcoming A24 project A Different Man with a shot of the dramatic transformation he underwent for the movie. In an Instagram post, the actor shared a shot of himself in the facial prosthetics he wore while playing a man with neurofibromatosis.
Stan is quite literally unrecognizable in the still from the film, which follows his character as he goes through facial reconstruction surgery, only to then become obsessed with the man portraying him in a play. The makeup for A Different Man is the handiwork of Mike Marino, who has also worked on The Staircase and The Time Traveler's Wife, and who was responsible for transforming Colin Farrell into the Penguin in The Batman, a process which took four hours.
This might be the most drastic change of looks that Stan has taken on, but it's far from his first transformation. He worked with superhero trainer Don Saladino to get absolutely ripped to play "Winter Soldier" Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this year he wowed audiences when he morphed into Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee in the Hulu miniseries Pam & Tommy.
In order to play the real-life rock star, he got incredibly lean and even learned to play the drums. "I had to lose so much weight, and the drums were a real pressure for me; I'd never played any instrument before and I had to learn," he said. "The whole thing felt like this just ginormous mountain to climb and there was always a little bit of an unsettling feeling about it. But I thrive well in discomfort, especially at work. It pushes you and as long as you can manage and handle it well, you can grow from it."
