New press photos from the forthcoming Hulu miniseries Pam and Tommy have just dropped, providing a first glimpse of Sebastian Stan and Lily James in the titular roles as the '90s pop culture icons, rock star Tommy Lee and actress Pamela Anderson. And while some people may have had their reservations about the casting choices when they were first announced (surely an MCU superhero and Disney princess are too clean-cut to play such a famously raunchy, rock'n'roll couple?), the photos depict a dramatic transformation.

Lily James, best known for her roles in Cinderella, Downton Abbey and the Mamma Mia sequel, is almost unrecognizable as Baywatch star Pamela Anderson. In one of the photos, she is decked out in a risqué black leather outfit reminiscent of the one Anderson wore in the 1996 movie Barb Wire, complete with '90s makeup that gives her an uncanny resemblance. James shared the image on her social media, accompanied by an apt quote from Anderson herself: "It's great to be blonde. With low expectations it's very easy to surprise people."

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Sebastian Stan's transformation into Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee is a little less shocking, but he still exudes rock star sneer and swagger in an image he shared on his Instagram page, along with a quote from Lee: "We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing."

The show chronicles the real-life events surrounding the leak of Anderson and Lee's sex tape; a watershed moment in pop culture which predated the era when celebrity nudes became commonplace. It will also feature Seth Rogen as Rand Gauthier, the man who stole the tape and sold it, helping to circulate what was arguably the first-ever "viral video."
