A New Season HGTV’s “Tough Love with Hilary Farr” is About to Debut—Here’s What to Expect

A blend of conflict and creativity is nothing new for British-Canadian designer Hilary Farr. If you’re familiar with that name, you likely know her and love her from her home design-focused battles with David Visentin on HGTV’s reality show Love It Or List It.

In case you haven’t tuned into one of the episodes from since-2008 series, here’s how it goes: While real estate agent Visentin walks homeowners through potential new homes that might inspire them to “list it,” Farr redesigns their current abode to try to transform it into a space that the owners will love—and live with for the foreseeable future.

Thanks to her client-focused designs and her mince-no-words personality, Farr has grown such a strong fanbase herself from that show that as of 2021, she has her own solo HGTV series. And viewers apparently dig her tough love approach so much that they asked for more. Season 2 of the hit HGTV series Tough Love with Hilary Farr kicks off Monday, September 4, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

During the 10-episode season, “a new roster of discontented homeowners will receive a spoonful of Tough Love with Hilary Farr to cure their house-related woes,” according to a press release.

The clients in need of some Tough Love score some TLC from Farr, who acts as both a designer and a life coach during each hour-long episode. After making a house call to tour the set-up and hear more about the home’s challenges—and how it’s impacting the family’s dynamic—Farr dreams up savvy design solutions that aim to help level-up their living arrangements. Hopefully, their relationships level-up, too.

In the first episode of season 2, “Bachelor Pad Be Gone,” Farr has a $200,000 budget to try to help a blended family in Raleigh, North Carolina renovate a fragmented former “bachelor pad” into a forever family home with better flow and functionality.

Later in the season, you can look forward to updates that focus on adding a mother-in-law suite as well as additional bedrooms for a niece and nephew who moved to the States from Ukraine.
