*Spoilers for season 1 of Only Murders In The Building below!*

Although the first season Hulu's murder mystery-meets-comedy series Only Murder in the Building just wrapped up, fans are itching for more. Because new episodes air every week, the anticipation for cracking the case at the Arconia has been super intense.

The show follows three neighbors who form an unlikely friendship because of their true-crime obsession. Mabel, Charles, and Oliver decide to try their hand at solving the mystery of a murder in their New York City apartment building, using the skills they've acquired by listening to true-crime podcasts. While uncovering information about their late neighbor and finding leads about the murderer, the trio documents their findings through their own podcast.

While the trio just uncovered the death of their neighbor and we just saw that ending, fans are wondering what to expect for the show's second season. Ahead, find everything we know about season 2 of Only Murders In The Building.

Is season 2 of Only Murders In The Building happening?

A second season of Only Murders In The Building is reportedly in the works, which means we'll get to see Mabel, Charles, and Oliver investigate another mystery sometime soon! According to Hulu's official accompanying podcast for the series, Only Murders In The Pod, season 2 is currently being written and will follow a new mystery.

"What we're doing right now is we're working on season 2. So it's all about breaking the overall arc of the season; what our mystery's going to be, who our suspect's going to be," show writer Kirker Butler said on episode 2 of the podcast, "Who Is Tim Kono?"

Hulu also greenlit Only Murders for another season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series had the highest premiere day tune-in for any comedy series in Hulu's history, so signing for a season 2 makes sense (plus, we still want to follow the dynamic trio that is Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin).

"Everyone in our amazing Building worked with such love and expertise through extraordinary times — and with incredible support from Disney, Hulu and 20th TV — to create a first season that might live up to our legendary cast, our beloved New York City, and to make a show about connection," said series creator John Hoffman. "To feel we’ve connected with our audience and hit the mark enough already to have the chance to continue — and to carry on our show's wild ride of mystery-comedy-empathy — is too exciting for words. So I'll shut up now, and just say a huge thanks to all and I can’t wait for more."

Who would return for season 2?

Because OMITB is a murder-mystery series, there's a strong likelihood that some characters may not make it out alive. Hopefully, we'll get to see Mabel, Charles, and Oliver continue their journey as true-crime podcast producers and detectives at the Arconia. However, since Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short are all A-list celebs and executive producers on Only Murders In The Building, there's no telling whether they'll reprise their roles or if it will become an anthology series with brand new characters.

What would season 2 be about?

The mystery of Tim Kono's death at the Arconia is was just uncovered in season 1, so it won't carry over to season 2. However, a new case is about to unravel — this time, surrounding Mabel, Charles, and Oliver. After Mabel was on her way to grab champagne from her apartment, Charles and Oliver find her covered in blood and hunched over Bunny's dead body. It seems that Mabel may have defended herself with her knitting needle, but as soon as Charles and Oliver make their way in, she says "It's not what you think." So, we don't really know what happened there.

Cinda Canning is also seen outside of the Arconia at the end of the season finale when the trio is arrested as she plans to make them the next subject of her own true-crime podcast. There's still a lot to unpack, so season 2 will most likely pick up where we left off and dive into what happened that night.

When is season 2 coming out?

Production on a second season can't begin until Hulu formally gives a green light. With the Only Murders In The Pod announcement, it sounds like season 2 is very possible. Till then, we'll be on the lookout for any official statements from Hulu.

Have they started filming yet?

On December 1, Selena Gomez posted a TikTok of the trio back on set for season two. The caption read, “Day one -back with these dads.” In the video, Selena captured costars Steve Martin and Martin Short having a very Charles and Oliver-esque conversation about collecting art, as she rolls her eyes and listens in Mabel-like indifference. If we didn’t know any better, the seconds-long video could be mistaken for a scene from the show. “Why do they all act just like their characters,” one user commented.

No other details about filming have come out, but we’ll just be refreshing Selena’s TikTok profile in the meantime.

Are there any new characters?

Deadline reported on December 1 that model and actress Cara Delevingne is joining the cast. She will play Alice, “a sophisticated art world insider who becomes enmeshed in the mystery.”

We can’t wait to see who else might get tangled up in the antics at the Arconia.
