Netflix's acclaimed dramedy Beef was an instant hit. Created by Lee Sung-jin, the eight-episode series follows Danny Cho (Steven Yeun), a perpetually down-on-his-luck contractor, and Amy Lau (Ali Wong), an outwardly successful entrepreneur, who become obsessed with each other after a road rage incident. As their petty pranks escalate into serious crimes, the pair's feud consumes both of their lives, as their rage affects everyone they love. Both Ali Wong and Steven Yeun went on to receive 2024 Golden Globe Awards following the release of the series.

Beef is the type of thrilling series that's easy to devour in one sitting, as the tense and emotional ride balances dark comedy with an Uncut Gems-level of tension building. After that wild ending, several fans are wondering where the show could go next. Read on for what we know about a possible second season so far.

Has Beef been renewed for a second season?

Netflix has yet to announce a renewal decision for the dramedy, but creator Lee Sung-jin already has plans for how the show could continue. The showrunner previously told The Hollywood Reporter during Beef's LA premiere that the show was initially pitches as an anthology, similar to The White Lotus.

"When we pitched the show, we actually pitched it as a limited anthology series," he explained. "Fingers crossed. I hope people love the show and we get to make more."

"I hope so. Tell your friends!" Yeun added.

When will we know if we're getting a Season 2?

Netflix tends to wait and see how it's shows perform before deciding whether or not they'll go forward with another season, so we'll be looking out for news over the few weeks (or months).

What would Season 2 be about?

By the end of season 1, Danny and Amy's story has essentially reached its conclusion. If the show does move forward as an anthology, we'd unfortunately have to say goodbye to Yeun and Wong, but plans can always change. In an interview with ELLE, Lee revealed that his initial pitch for the series included "multiple other beefs and other character types to explore."

"Cards on the table, we did pitch this show as a limited anthology, so there is sort of a close-ended-ness to the story [of Danny and Amy]," he said. "But, if given the opportunity, of course, I'd love to explore them further, because Danny and Amy, I love those characters. But yeah, by design, though, this a close-ended narrative."

Whether it means rejoining Danny and Amy or embarking on a new emotional rollercoaster, hopefully we'll get news of a renewal soon.
