Sea Of Stars Is Getting A Beautiful Physical Edition

Sea of Stars was one of the biggest breakout indie hits of 2023, and notably one of very few games to launch on both PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass on day one. Unfortunately for physical game collectors, it was only available digitally when it was first released, but luckily that’s all about to change.

Last night, iam8bit announced an absolutely gorgeous special physical edition of Sea of Stars, for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. As with most of iam8bit’s special physical releases, Sea of Stars’ physical edition comes with a host of goodies, including a physical manual, a slipcase, a double-sided poster, a download for the complete soundtrack of over 200 tracks, and four sticker sheets, in addition to the game, of course.

All versions of the game contain the same goodies, and all of them will set you back $44.99. They’re also all region-free, and guaranteed to work on every console in every region (except China’s Nintendo Switch). The Xbox version is a teensy bit better in terms of value, too, since it has Smart Delivery, meaning just one disc will have both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions on it, compared to the PlayStation 4 and 5 versions, which are sold separately.

For those who want a little more than just the game and its goodies, there’s also an absolutely gorgeous 2-disc LP vinyl record set, featuring music from Eric W. Brown and Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda, both of whom contributed to the soundtrack in the game. The records come in two different colors, Solar Orange and Lunar Blue – both included in the two-record set – and buying it will also net you a digital download for the full 200-track soundtrack. It’ll set you back $42.99, which record collectors will know is an absolute steal for something like this.

The physical editions of the game will ship sometime in Q2 2024, and the record set will ship in Q3 2024. All of them are available for preorder now, and you can order them from the links below.
