Screenwriter Attached To Lionsgate's 'Naruto' Live-Action Film

A major update has been announced regarding the live-action Naruto adaptation from Lionsgate.

According to Variety, Tasha Huo — who was named one of the 10 screenwriters to watch — has signed on to write the feature film adaptation. Plot details and additional information were not revealed, but the report did explain that Huo recently wrote the script for and will serve as a showrunner on Netflix's animated Tomb Raider series. “Adapting iconic characters or IP makes the writing of it easier, because the passion for writing it is already there,” she said. “I’m so inspired by these characters already that it’s exciting to just take a part of their journey and try to tell that fun story in a way that would appeal to me as a fan.”

Rumors of a live-action Naruto adaptation can be traced as far back as 2015, with Michael Gracey supposedly helming the film and Avi Arad producing. It was not confirmed whether they are still attached to the project.
