This is huge because Thandie revealed a “nightmare” incident while working with Katie’s ex Tom Cruise on the Mission: Impossible II set.
In a brilliant interview with Vulture, Thandie detailed how Tom was so stressed he manifested a zit on his nose.
Katie divorced Tom in 2012 and moved across the country from him.

In case you missed it, this week, Vulture journalist E. Alex Jung published a devastatingly perfect profile on Westworld actress Thandie Newton, and it’s predictably making headlines everywhere. Not only did Thandie reveal that she turned down Charlie’s Angels because of Amy Pascal’s racist stereotyping, but she also detailed a “nightmare” incident with Tom Cruise on the set of Mission: Impossible II.
Thandie recalled:
“Oh, I was never asked [to film another Mission: Impossible movie]. I was so scared of Tom. He was a very dominant individual. He tries super hard to be a nice person. But the pressure. He takes on a lot. And I think he has this sense that only he can do everything as best as it can be done.”
She also described how Tom made them switch roles to show her how he wanted her to deliver her lines, which she said were “the shittiest.” She continued, “And it was the most unhelpful….I can’t think of anything less revealing. It just pushed me further into a place of terror and insecurity. It was a real shame. And bless him. And I really do mean bless him, because he was trying his damnedest.”
Thandie added that Tom became so stressed that he manifested a zit on the tip of his nose by the end of the night. “It would take anyone else 48 hours to manifest a zit,” she said. What a talent.
With this making its way to every corner of the internet, seeing Katie, who divorced Tom and moved all the way across the country from him in 2012, follow Thandie is huge. And thanks to these two, I officially have my weekend plans: casually checking every hour on the hour to see if Thandie follows Katie back.
