  • Scott Disick and Sofia Richie are taking a break.

  • He’s currently in rehab seeking treatment for “emotional issues” and “past traumas” related to his relationship with Kourtney Kardashian and the sudden deaths of his parents.

Days after rumors of a Sofia Richie and Scott Disick breakup began to emerge, Us Weekly confirmed the couple is taking a break as Scott continues to seek treatment for “emotional issues.”

At the beginning of May, Scott entered a rehab facility in Colorado to “work on his past traumas” that stemmed from his parents’ deaths in 2013 and 2014 and his on-again, off-again relationship with Kourtney Kardashian. At the time, a source said, “Although it didn’t always show up in a negative way, these are things he’s constantly had to battle and live with that don’t go away overnight.”

As quarantine continued to drag on, Sofia “noticed a change in him and that he wasn’t as healthy and happy as he could be” and reached out to Kourtney for advice. Although the first facility Scott checked in to didn’t work out because of leaked photos, he continues to get help at another center in Los Angeles. And during this time, he and Sofia have decided to call it quits so he can focus on getting better.

According to Us’s source, the breakup will likely last until “until Scott straightens himself out more.” They went on to say, “Scott is in an okay place right now and is trying to get better and focus on work, but he has to prove himself.”

Before the split, a People source noted that Sofia is still really supportive of him. “She understands that Scott is in a difficult situation,” they said. “She is very proud that he is committed to dealing with his issues.” Even though they’re not together right now, that likely hasn’t changed.
