Scotland-Windthorst VFW, auxiliary recognize contest winners, commemorate Pearl Harbor Day

The Scotland-Windthorst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2676 and Auxiliary recognized the winners of their annual patriotic Voice of Democracy audio-essay and Patriot's Pen essay contests along with Teacher of the Year recipients at an awards ceremony held Monday, December 11, at the Windthorst, Texas, Knights of Columbus Hall.

Jackson Davidson, Darrin Ard and Paige Oliver all won First Place in their respective categories at the next higher level, VFW District 8 and as a result they have been entered into the VFW Texas state level competition.

Prior to an awards ceremony the Scotland-Windthorst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2676 and Auxiliary, awardees and their families commemorated National Pearl Harbor Day by remembering those who gave their lives on December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor and recognizing their sacrifice so that we would have the freedom to enjoy events such as the evening's award ceremony.
