‘Tis the season for planning an epic winter getaway and Southwest is helping by offering one-way flights starting at just $39.

“Super low sale fares. Hightail it outta town,” Southwest wrote on its website as part of the promotion.

Travelers can also escape the cold with trips to warm-weather destinations like Cancun for just $177 one-way from Fort Lauderdale, or flights to both Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos starting at just $231 one-way from Los Angeles.

The sale dates vary by location and are valid on travel within the contiguous U.S. from Jan. 3 through May 22. The sale is valid on international travel as well as flights to Puerto Rico and Hawaii from Jan. 9 through May 22.

Travel from the contiguous U.S. to international destinations, to Puerto Rico and Hawaii, is blacked out from March 12 through March 27, while travel back to the contiguous U.S. is blacked out on Jan. 16, Feb. 27, Feb. 28, and from March 19 through April 3.

The sale comes as Southwest is in the process of upgrading its onboard experience as well as making it easier for customers to earn status in 2024. It also comes as the airline is considering adding red-eye flights to its roster with CEO Bob Jordan recently calling it a “logical evolution” for the airline.
