Sci-Fi Looter-Slasher Warframe Is Coming to iPhone After 10 Years

It only took 10 years, but Digital Extremes' sci-fi looter-slasher Warframe is coming to the iPhone soon. The game hits the App Store on February 20, bringing the decade-old live-service game to mobile gamers worldwide.

Warframe on iPhone will support cross-play and cross-saves, so you can pick up your progress from other platforms seamlessly. Just like its PC and console counterparts, Warframe will offer daily log-in rewards, which include a 3-Day Affinity Booster and a Bombyx Syandana.

After its recent Whispers in the Walls expansion, Warframe will bring a new twist to its gameplay with Warframe: 1999 later this year. The expansion will focus more on hack-and-slash combat, focusing on a new character - Arthur.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like Warframe may be targeting a 30fps output on mobile. Of course, it may struggle to hit that target as we've seen with recent AAA mobile ports like Death Stranding: Director's Cut and Resident Evil 4. What matters more are the on-screen controls, and it remains to be seen whether they get in the way of gameplay on a small display.

Warframe iOS and iPad System Requirements

In order to play Warframe, you’ll need to make sure you have iOS 14.0 or later installed. The game is widely compatible with all models of iPhone after the iPhone XS, along with the iPhone SE (2nd generation) also supported.

iPad users will need to have iPad OS 14.0 or later installed, with the following devices supported:

  • iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation or newer)

  • iPad Mini (5th generation or newer)

  • iPad Air (3rd generation or newer)

  • iPad (8th generation or newer)

Warframe is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. An Android port of the game is also in development, with a closed beta arriving soon.
