After binge-watching season one, we’ve been obsessively Googling details about Schmigadoon season two. For example, what’s next for Josh and Mel? Did they ever make it home? And did Mildred become the new mayor?
We don’t have these answers yet, but Apple TV+ has already shared major updates on what fans can expect from the upcoming season. This includes casting info, plot details, a premiere date and more. Here’s what you need to know about season two of the Emmy-winning series.

1. What is Schmigadoon season 2 about?
In season one, Mel and Josh stumbled upon the magical town of Schmigadoon, a place that’s perpetually stuck in a Golden Age musical. But in season two, Josh and Mel will embark on their next adventure in the town of Schmicago, the “reimagined world of ’60s and ’70s musicals,” per the official logline. So, viewers will likely see parodies of iconic musicals from that time period, like West Side Story, Mary Poppins and, of course, Chicago.
Further plot details haven’t been revealed yet, but Apple TV+ did confirm that there will be new original musical numbers from co-creator and executive producer Cinco Paul.

2. Who is in the cast of Schmigadoon season 2?
Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key will return, alongside co-stars Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski and Aaron Tveit. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actor Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page will also join the cast for season two.

3. When will Schmigadoon season 2 be released?
Fans can expect to reunite with Mel and Josh on Friday, April 7. The musical satire will return with two episodes, and the remaining four installments will premiere weekly until May 5.
