The Scary Reason BBQ Pork Is Being Pulled From Stores Like Walmart

With everyone gearing up for summer and Memorial Day just around the corner, we’re certainly entering barbeque season. But sometimes when you don’t have time to fire up the grill, microwavable options can be a tasty alternative (although they come with their fair share of health risks).

Unfortunately, though, if you’re a fan of pulled pork, you’ll have to err on the side of caution when it comes to microwavable meals right now, as somewhere around 40,763 pounds of boneless pork products have been recalled. This is just one more to add to the list of recent recalls.

Boneless pork products recalled from Aldi and Walmart

Several varieties of raw, boneless pork products from Canada-based Eastern Meat Solutions, Inc. have been recalled. These include Park Street Deli Sweet Chipotle Boneless Pork Ribs with Sauce, Park Street Deli HAWAIIAN STYLE Boneless Pork Ribs with Sauce, and Marketside Ready To Heat BBQ Pork Burnt Ends, each sold in 16-oz plastic packages.

These products, which were sold at Walmart and Aldi locations nationwide, did not undergo necessary inspection by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, according to an announcement on the USDA website.

If you recently bought one of these products, the best way to discover whether or not you purchased an affected item is to check the lot number and use by date. Products with the affected lot numbers and use by dates, along with an establishment number of "EST. 4800" should be discarded.

The following Park Street Deli Sweet Chipotle Boneless Pork Ribs with Sauce lot numbers and use by dates are affected: Lot #3115, Use By 07/08/23; Lot # 3123, Use By 07/17/23; Lot #3114, Use By 07/08/23

The following Park Street Deli Hawaiian Style Boneless Pork Ribs with Sauce lot numbers and use by dates are affected: Lot # 3115, Use By 07/08/23; Lot # 3123, Use By 07/17/23; Lot #3114, Use By 07/08/23

The following Marketside Ready To Heat BBQ Pork Burnt Ends lot numbers and use by dates are affected: Lot #3116, Use By 08/29/23; Lot #3117, Use By 08/30/23; Lot #3122, Use By 09/04/23

If these match up with any of the products you've purchased and the package is marked with establishment number "EST 4800" in the USDA mark of inspection, you should either return the products to the point of purchase or discard them.

Luckily, no illnesses stemming from these products have been reported yet. However, staying up to date on the most recent recalls is an important part of staying healthy.
