This Scandalous New Doc Is #2 on Netflix & the Trailer Is Seriously Gripping

According to Netflix, the movie is "an examination that goes beyond the celebrity-driven headlines and dives into the methods used by Rick Singer, the man at the center of the shocking 2019 college admissions scandal, to persuade his wealthy clients to cheat an educational system already designed to benefit the privileged."

The court cases, which resulted from a nationwide investigation lasting seven years, involved such notable celebrities as Lori Loughlin (Full House) and Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives). However, while the documentary includes some real news clips, most of the footage features narrative recreations of the conversations that happened between Singer and his star clients. Those conversations that appear in the film were drawn from FBI wiretaps.

Operation Varsity Blues stars Matthew Modine as Singer, alongside Josh Stamberg, Wallace Langham and David Starzyk. The documentary was directed by Chris Smith, with a script by Jon Karmen (both previously worked together on the documentary Fyre).
