Did you know the scalp ages at an astonishingly fast rate— even faster than facial skin? I didn't either, and ever since I found that tidbit out earlier this year, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. As a result, I have been taking more and more care of my scalp—and it has quickly become my favorite part of not just my hair care routine but my self-care routine as a whole. Over the last seven months, I've tried several scalp treatments, but nothing holds a candle to the Christophe Robin Purifying Scalp Scrub with Sea Salt.

Allow me to explain: Just as the name suggests, it's an exfoliating scrub infused with actual sea salt that deeply cleanses the scalp by sloughing away dead skin cells, flakes, product build-up in pores—you name it—while also soothing any itchiness and irritation associated with these woes. It's supposed to be applied to the wet hair pre-shampoo once a week, and let me tell you, I thoroughly look forward to that washing session each and every time.

Because I have extremely thick and curly hair, I often have it blown out and will go to great lengths to maintain my tresses because it's a process to clean, dry, and style them. But what usually happens is by day 5 or 6 of my blowout, my scalp begins to feel and look greasy (no amount of dry shampoo will save that!) and sometimes, I start to experience itchiness and not-so-glamorous flakes at the crown of my head and around the face, which always elicits big "ughs" from under my breath. Since incorporating the Christophe Robin treatment into my routine, I've noticed a significant difference in the appearance and feel of the scalp. When I apply it, especially to the problem areas, my scalp instantly feels reinvigorated and squeaky clean. The cooling feeling of the formula is utterly refreshing, too, making the experience all the more relaxing.

There have been a few times I've gone without the product, usually when I am in a pinch and need to head out the door, and I do notice the difference. Sometimes shampoo doesn't cut it—especially during this time of year when the cold, dry air does a number on my hair and skin—and that extra step of the scalp treatment is 100 percent worth it. My hair has never looked and felt healthier, and the act of washing my hair has been surprisingly more enjoyable. I can't wait to really reap the benefits when it's the dead of winter. Do yourself a favor, and add this scrub to your routine for a happy, healthy scalp.
