Travel app Hopper is putting summer travel on sale with discounts of up to $100 off flights and up to 50 percent off hotels around the world.

The sale, which is valid through 3 a.m. ET on May 20, has big savings on travel to 50 popular domestic and international destinations from London and Rome to the Maldives and Vietnam, the company shared with Travel + Leisure. And a deal comes in especially handy now as airfare to both Europe and Asia costs as much as it has in five years and international prices overall are up nearly 40 percent compared to last summer.

"This summer travel season is expected to be [a] busy and expensive one, particularly for international travelers,” Hayley Berg, the lead economist at Hopper, told T+L. “The clock is ticking in order to get a good deal for summer travel, as prices will increase as we get closer to peak summer dates.”

Travelers looking to relax this summer can head to Santorini, Greece, where they can save $100 off flights and 25 percent off hotels, or head to the Maldives where they can snag the same savings. Those looking for a more city-focused trip should consider London where flights are currently $50 off and hotels are 25 percent off, or consider Lisbon where they can save $75 off flights and 20 percent off hotels.

And travelers who want to head to Asia can save $60 off flights and 20 percent off hotel stays for Tokyo, which just dropped all COVID-19-related border restrictions.

The sale comes ahead of the Memorial Day holiday weekend, during which nearly 3.4 million travelers are expected to fly, representing an 11 percent increase compared to last year and a 5.4 percent increase compared to pre-pandemic in 2019.

Currently, an average round trip ticket to Europe costs $1,167 for summer, according to Hopper, significantly more than the $850 it averaged last year. And an average round trip ticket to Asia is currently coming in at $1,817 during the summer.

Travelers who book their hotel stay on Hopper may be able to save even more with the company’s Price Freeze option, which allows them to freeze the price for up to 60 days by putting down a deposit. If the price goes up, Hopper will cover the increase up to $300.
