As a veteran co-anchor on The Today Show, Savannah Guthrie not only reports on the news we need to hear, but she also loves to play with fashion on live TV. She’s known for taking style risks both on and off camera—which she did while reporting on the coronation in a sheer Barbiecore pink lace dress. One particularly daring outfit the 51-year-old wore that we can’t stop thinking about is the slinky, form-fitting black Oscar de la Renta dress that Savannah wore to the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. This dress turned heads because of its sultry backless design!

Savannah Guthrie Rocks A Curve-Hugging, Backless Oscar De La Renta Dress

After the 95th annual Academy Awards, celebrities weren't done showing off their ultra-glamourous ensembles. Stars made their way to Vanity Fair's post-Oscars party, where they continued the festivities in some jaw-dropping wardrobe changes. Celebrities particularly wowed in ab-baring, revealing ensembles—like Olivia Wilde's one-sleeved white Garbiela Hearst dress! Savannah did not go the ab-baring route and instead chose to show off her toned back in a black Oscar de la Renta dress.

The form-fitting gown she wore featured a backless design that outlined her next-level toned physique. The Today Show host's slinky dress draped over her shoes and slightly trailed behind her. The halter neckline was embellished with multicolored, bejeweled flowers which also trimmed the cut-out on her back.

As for accessories, she opted for gold chunky rings, bracelets, and hoop earrings. Savannah also chose to paint her nails black to match her dress. Also on display were the words "all my love" inked on her wrist. She first revealed the tattoo during a segment on Today in January.

The co-anchor went for full glam with bright pink lipstick, full lashes, light pink eyeshadow, and just a touch of bronzer and blush. She styled her recently chopped bronde hair in loose waves and parted down the middle. Because of the long trim of the dress, we couldn't spot the type of shoes she wore—but we're sure she opted for heels instead of her favorite behind-the-scenes slippers!

Savannah attended the post-Oscars celebration with her husband Michael Feldman, who donned a coordinating black suit and leather sneakers. Following the after-party, the Today co-anchor was absent from her seat the next morning. Her absence came shortly after she abruptly left mid-show in February because she tested positive for COVID-19 for a third time.

Fan Comments

When Savannah posted her after-party outfit to her Instagram, she captioned the post for her 1 million followers, "Thanks for having us @VanityFair!" and shared two photos—one of her and her husband posing on the red (actually blue) carpet, and one of her in her dress. Her fans loved the daring and chic look and quickly commented their praise. "Get it," one fan wrote, while another commented, "OMG stunning!" A third wrote, "Red carpet material right here!" and another chimed in with, "Amazing dress! You looked beautiful." One fan even wondered about her seemingly ageless appearance, "What! What are you doing? Seriously I need to know...we all need to know."

Other fans, however, were critical of her husband's shoe choice, "Did Mike forget dress shoes?" and about her choice to use social media despite promising to give it up for Lent, "I thought SG was off IG during Lent? She made this announcement on air so public [so it] would keep her accountable. Hmmm."
