Another Today show host has decided to work from home. After announcing that she was experiencing a mild sore throat and runny nose, Savannah Guthrie will anchor from home to play it safe amid the rapid spread of COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, throughout the country.

On Tuesday night, Guthrie shared an Instagram of her makeshift studio. “Well, this will be a first. I’m going to be anchoring TODAY from my house!” she wrote in the caption. “In an abundance of caution, and to model the super vigilance the CDC has asked of all of us, I’m staying home because I have a mild sore throat and runny nose.”

The NBC anchor said her company’s “superb” medical team and bosses supported her decision to work remotely for now. “I feel good and am sure I will be back in no time—but during these days, it’s on all of us to be extra cautious and caring of those around us. #loveyourneighbor So see you tomorrow on TODAY—from my basement!” she concluded.

Guthrie’s colleagues were quick to send well wishes to their co-host. “Feel better! Is Rog in the shot? Love you,” commented Jenna Bush Hager, while Hoda Kotb wrote, “Good a.m.! Can’t wait to see you my darling... I am getting ready to turn lights on in 1-a. Just need one. Miss you xo.”

“Feel better my friend,” said Today anchor and The Voice host Carson Daly. “Welcome to the home studio,” joked Al Roker, who is also delivering the weather from home.

On Wednesday morning, Guthrie shared an Instagram just before going live, showing off her studio. “Live... from my basement... this is TODAY,” wrote Guthrie in the caption. “Big shoutout to my husband @feldmike who has turned into producer and technician!!”

Guthrie’s fans are definitely supporting her decision to work remotely at this time. “Hope you are feeling ok and can’t wait to see you!” someone commented to her recent Instagram post.

“You did so good at setting up though! Doesn’t even look like your basement! 💕 Stay clean and safe!” another follower wrote. Many others wished her family well wishes.

As COVID-19 cases continue to climb New York state, Mayor Bill de Blasio said residents of New York City should prepare for a “shelter-in-place” order to prevent further spread of the respiratory illness sweeping the world. Certain companies are already taking precaution, including NBC. After learning that a 3rd hour of Today staffer tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday night, employees who work on that team, including Roker and Craig Melvin, were instructed to work remotely.

NBC News president Noah Oppenheim said in a statement that the staffer was experiencing “mild symptoms” and receiving medical care. The anchors seemed to be sitting farther apart this week, and Oppenheim said that NBC is “taking all necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of our teams,” which included keeping certain employees home and deep cleaning their “offices, control room, and Studio 1A.”

Roker and Melvin took to Twitter to ensure their fans that they are “feeling great” and Roker shared a video from his “studio kitchen” to Instagram before anchoring on Tuesday.

It looks like the Today show staff is playing it safe this week. Feel better soon, Savannah!
