Saudi Freeride Releases Highlights from Fight 001 Event

Back in March, Saudi Arabia hosted the country's first-ever freeride event, Flight 001.

Now Saudi Freeride has released the official highlight video of the event. Check it out below.

Flight 001 was organized by the Saudi Austrian Entertainment Company (SAEC). Professional trail builder and Red Bull Rampage rider Clemens Kaudela came in to design the course. Red Bull, CPGANG, and Masters of Dirt, all well-known names in freeride, also partnered with Flight 001.

Masters of Dirt organizer Georgie Fetcher raved about the event.

"I've always wanted to showcase the incredible hospitality of Saudi Arabia to my friends and team riders. This country has much more to offer than meets the eye. Hosting the first-ever freeride event here has been a dream come true, and it's a moment in my life I will never forget. The warmth and excitement we've experienced have been truly humbling, and it underscores the universal appeal and camaraderie that extreme sports can foster."

Flight 001 drew some controversy on social media, who saw it as an example of sportswashing similar to LIV Golf.

Saudi Freeride maintains that the event was primarily aimed at growing the sport locally. In addition to showcasing pro riders, Flight 001 featured local riders progressing on the amateur course.

The organizers say they hope to expand on the momentum from Flight 001 and grow extreme sports in the Middle East.
