Every 27 to 29 years, Saturn comes back to where it was in the sky when you were born. This cosmic phenomenon is called the Saturn Return, and it’s something of an astrological coming-of-age. Sound major? Well, it is.

Known as the taskmaster and karmic planet, Saturn helps us keep ourselves in check. Your Saturn Return is like the ringed plan telling you it’s time to get your life together and become a responsible adult. Eek! But also, exciting?

On March 21st, Saturn will move into the sign of Aquarius, which means we’ll all be reevaluating and revolutionizing the current structures of our lives. It’ll stay there until March 7th, 2023, apart from a dip back into Capricorn from July 1st, 2020, to December 17th, 2020. The last two times Saturn was in Aquarius were from February 6th, 1991, to May 21st, 1993, and from June 30th, 1993, to January 28th, 1994. If your birth date falls in either of those ranges, you’re officially becoming an adult (according to astrology). Mazel tov!

Here’s how to embrace your Saturn Return in Aquarius:

Don’t be scared!

If you’re into astro, you might have heard some Saturn Return slander. Some people say it’s a wild and devastating time. Don’t listen to that noise! Chances are, your Saturn Return will go smoothly. (If it doesn’t, it’s because your past karma is catching up with you.) Your Saturn Return in Aquarius will bring big changes, but they won’t be bad ones—Saturn rules Aquarius and wants to give the water-bearer *structure*.

Focus on your fam

Saturn is sometimes known as the “daddy” planet (yep) because it brings discipline and order to our lives. While it can represent our relationships with the paternal figures in our lives, Saturn’s not limited to this role. It can represent our relationship to other members of our family too. During your Saturn Return in Aquarius, you’ll grow to understand your role in your family dynamics. You might also mend past issues with family members or create some healthy boundaries.

Channel your inner inventor

Aquarius is an innovative sign—it’s all about science and progress. If you were born with Saturn in Aquarius, you’re a natural trailblazer but you have to be ready to step up. Make the most of this transit by embracing your originality and confidence. You got this!

Say goodbye to *certain* friends

There comes a time during everyone’s Saturn Return when they must say au revoir to some of their friends. It’s always hard to end relationships—especially with people you’ve known forev. However, part of growing up is growing out of certain friendships. This doesn’t mean you’re doomed to be alone forever or that your longtime BFFs will never talk to you again. Instead, your Saturn Return in Aquarius is telling you to find your footing with your crew or put together a new squad. You’re making “adult” friends now. Instead of playing beer pong, you want to sip rosé.

Get political

Saturn in Aquarius is all about humanitarian and political causes. This placement wants to give back and change the world. The only caveat is that you can be reluctant to work with those who don’t one hundred percent share your beliefs. Word of advice: Keep an open mind. Different people and ideologies can team up for a common goal, given the chance.

Leave the past behind

Thanks to your Saturn Return, you’re being ~reborn~ and moving on from whatever held you back for sooo long. The world is yours! You can be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want to do—as long as you’re honest with yourself. Right now, the past doesn’t exist. Only the present does. You can transform your career, your love life, and your lifestyle, if you’re ready.

Make a plan

Remember when we said Saturn is a disciplinarian and Aquarius is a trailblazer? Well, imagine these two teaming up. They’d make so many to-do lists! So act like this ~dynamic duo~: Create a plan for how to put your big ideas into action and then follow it. If you want to be a fashion designer, then buy a sewing machine and sketch pad and apply for a job. If your relationship isn’t moving in the direction you want, then perhaps it’s time to cut boo loose. Conversely, if your love life is going amazingly well, then consider putting a ring on it.

Take charge

This is your cosmic wake-up call! Take control of the situation and stand tall and proud. Know that you’re on your way to living your best life. It’s all about you, bb!
