Last month, news broke that Kim Cattrall would be making a solo cameo in the second season of the Sex and the City spin-off And Just Like That, premiering on June 22. And now, Kim Cattrall is speaking out about it.

In a recent appearance on The View, the actress said, "It’s very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, ‘What can we do?’ And I went, ‘Hmm…let me get creative.' And one of those things was to get Pat Field back because I just thought that if I’m going to come back I gotta come back with that Samantha style, I gotta push it and we did.”

Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis also shared their thoughts about Samantha's notorious return. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Parker shared, "Samantha is present in season 1 and more so in season 2 via text. It was just a nice nod to the 25 years [of Sex and the City] to add the face to the text." She further expanded,"And it's a really opportune moment in the story, [a] consequential event happening in Carrie's life, that Samantha rings and they have this quick, lovely, sentimental, funny call. And it just feels normal and really nice, and I'm glad that we could manage it and work it out and get it sorted time-wise and schedule-wise."

Davis, who executive produces And Just Like That alongside costars Parker and Cynthia Nixon and showrunner Michael Patrick King, shared in, "We had a conversation about it and we decided that it was right for the fans. The fans miss Samantha. The fans love Samantha. Samantha's a fantastic character. We get it."

But that's all Davis is saying for now. She revealed, "Sometimes people aren't in your life every day, but that doesn't mean that you're not connected," Davis says. "I can't give anything else away about the story, 'cause we're trying to keep what secrets are left secret, but it makes sense for the circumstance that it's in."

Kim has spoken candidly about moving on from Sex and the City. In an interview with Variety last year, she expressed her disappointment over Samantha’s proposed storyline in the scrapped third SATC movie.

“Everything has to grow, or it dies,” she said. “I felt that when the series ended, I thought that’s smart. We’re not repeating ourselves. And then the movie to end all the loose ends. And then there’s another movie. And then there’s another movie?…Everything in me went, I’m done.”

SJP has also spoken publicly about her feud with Kim, which reportedly developed during talks for the third film. At the time, SJP said Kim’s demands influenced the studio’s decision to scrap the movie.

Of Kim’s allegation that SJP, Kristin, and costar Cynthia Nixon weren’t nice to her during the filming of the series and two films, SJP told the Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve spent a lot of years working really hard to always be decent to everybody on the set, to take care of people, to be responsible to and for people, both my employers and the people that I feel I’m responsible for as a producer of the show. And there just isn’t anyone else who’s ever talked about me this way, so it’s very painful.”
