The Sex and the City reboot is officially a go at HBO Max, and all the original leads are returning for the next chapter—except for Kim Cattrall. As the Internet buzzed about the revival news, and Cattrall's notable absence, Sarah Jessica Parker cheekily chimed in to the discussion.
Shortly after the news broke, journalist and author Taffy Brodesser-Akner asked her Twitter followers to share their "suggested plotline that explains Samantha's absence." Responses poured in from hundreds of users—including SJP.
"Pen and paper at ready. X," she replied, which understandably sent some tweeters into shock.

Parker also seemed to be itching to respond to some of the suggested plotlines, which included Samantha's pursuing various PR gigs or even—gasp—killing her off. "Exceeding all expectations," she wrote of the replies. "I am summoning discipline though desperate to suggest 'hot/cold.'"
C'mon, SJP, can't you share a subtle hint?

All we know of the reboot's real plot, for now, is that it will focus on Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), "as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s," per Deadline. The show, titled And Just Like That…, will be a 10-episode limited series.
Although hopes for an SATC revival have been in existence for years, speculation heightened last month when rumors teased that a reboot would head to HBO Max. However, even then, Cattrall wasn't attached to the project, as she has "repeatedly said she is not interested in returning," according to Page Six. She and Parker have reportedly been in a feud for years, which came to a head in 2017–18.
But while responding to fans in her Instagram comments yesterday, Parker denied any bad blood between herself and Cattrall. "I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would," she said in one comment. "Samantha isn't a part of this story. But she will always be a part of us. No matter where we are or what we do."
And when one fan said she'll "miss Samantha," SJP replied, "We will too. We loved her so."
