Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams aren't alone: 4 other celeb couples who met online

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams’s buzzy romance is something of a modern love story. If you don’t already know, social media is essentially the closest thing we have to Cupid, so it’s no surprise the Modern Family actress, 26, and the Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise alum, 33, found love online.

Adams confirmed this week that their romance began after exchanging flirty tweets. “The internet — it’s amazing,” he said. “I’m amazed how smart the internet is. Because I just assume everyone on Twitter is an idiot, and then I’m like, ‘Wow!’”

Hyland and Adams certainly aren’t the first stars to begin dating after some social media flirtation. Take a look at four other couples who met online. (Here’s hoping Hyland and Adams have better luck.)

Kanye West’s ex and the “Black and Yellow” rapper also had Twitter to thank for their first setup. “Initially we met through twitter” Rose told Us Weekly. “He did an interview about me and the guy who interviewed him asked, ‘If there was one girl in the world who would you be with?’ He said ‘Amber Rose‘ — and then I hit him on Twitter, and I said, ‘That’s really cute’ and we fell in love!”

The pair got married in 2013 but split two years later. While they didn’t get their happily ever after, they got an amazing consolation prize in their son, Sebastian, 4.

After denying reports that she met her furniture designer beau on Bumble, Schumer later confirmed that they did meet online, but on a different dating site. He was her first match. “He was dancing with his grandmother in his profile picture at what looked like a wedding,” the Snatched actress detailed in her book, The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo.

Schumer wrote, “His song was ‘LSD’ by ASAP Rocky, my favorite song on that album. He wasn’t an actor or photographer by trade like all the other guys — and he didn’t live in LA or New York. He was a Chicago guy. We sent each other very simple hellos and short, funny messages.”

The pair split earlier this year after dating for about a year and a half but remain friends.

The NBA player credits Twitter with connecting him to his former fiancée. “I was watching a video of hers; I think it was ‘Work.’ I was like, ‘Oh man, she looks very hot.’ I go on my Twitter and make her my Wednesday crush. She actually bid on it. And then I got to mackin’,” he explained in 2014.

Azalea realized about eight months into dating him that they actually had met years prior at a pool party and she had “hated” him. Nothing like some flirting on social media to make you forget about first impressions! While Twitter heated things up between the two — who eventually got engaged — it’s also where the world watched the demise of their relationship go down in essentially real time. The singer tweeted about allegedly catching Young cheating on her, thanks to security footage at their home.

Sliding into those DMs! After some tweets back and forth, the Glee alum and “Bounce Back” rapper started exchanging direct messages before taking their flirtation into real life. “I had followed him and he sent me a little message like, ‘I’m a fan,’” Rivera told Access Hollywood at the time. “I tweeted that I followed him; I was trying to get his attention. We went to dinner and the rest is history.”

Their relationship became history too. After getting engaged months after dating, the pair split in 2014. Rivera alleged in her book, Sorry Not Sorry, that it was because she had caught Big Sean cheating on her with Ariana Grande.
