Sarah Ferguson Shares Rare Update About the Queen’s Corgis: ‘Always Begging for Treats’
Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson is sharing a rare update about Queen Elizabeth’s corgis, who are living their best lives.
This month, Fergie, 64, posted a photo of the dogs, named Muick and Sandy, on her personal Instagram page. The caption read, “Always begging for treats!”
Followers filled the comments section with words of support for the beloved pets. One person wrote, “I can see they miss Her Majesty. They deserve whatever treats you give and nice they are looked after and well taken care of too.” Another added, “HM is looking down from Heaven and smiling with gratitude.”
Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, Ferguson and her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, took in the dogs. This news didn’t come as a huge surprise because Muick and Sandy were gifts to the late queen from her son and granddaughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. (The corgis now reside at the duchess's current residence, the Royal Lodge in Windsor.)
A source told The Telegraph that Ferguson and the queen had developed a special bond prior to the monarch’s death. They said, “The Duchess bonded with Her Majesty over dog walking and riding horses and, even after her divorce, she would continue her great friendship with Her Majesty, by walking the dogs in Frogmore and chatting.”
Over the course of her 70-year reign, Queen Elizabeth became known for her corgi clan. In fact, she owned over 30 corgis—many of which were descendants of the first dog she owned back in 1944.
