Sarah Ferguson Shares Heartfelt Post Amid Health Issues: ‘Check in With Yourself’

Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson is sharing an important reminder in honor of World Health Day.

Yesterday, the 64-year-old royal posted a photo on Instagram featuring herself posing in a navy-blue skirt, a striped shirt and a coordinating blazer. In the caption, Ferguson reminded her followers to take care of their bodies by getting routine health checks and engaging in mindful activities, including reading and walking.

She wrote, “Today on #WorldHealthDay, I would like to remind anyone who may be reading this to check in with yourself. Check in on your state of mind and check in on your body. Go to your routine health check. Take that walk. Read a book. Your body and mind are a priority. Make sure to show them love.”

Fergie has been a vocal health advocate after she was diagnosed with cancer twice. After undergoing a single mastectomy, the royal went to a dermatologist to have some moles removed and learned that she has skin cancer.

“Following her diagnosis with an early form of breast cancer this summer, Sarah, Duchess of York has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma,” a rep said in a statement (obtained by People).

“The Duchess wants to thank the entire medical team which has supported her, particularly her dermatologist whose vigilance ensured the illness was detected when it was,” the statement continued. “She believes her experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, color and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma.”

Thanks for the reminder and the positive message, Fergie.
