Sarah Ferguson traveled to Graceland to speak at the memorial for her late friend, Lisa Marie Presley.

"I stand here with great honor because we called each other 'sissy,' and I've been with you all for all your lives really," the Duchess of York said. "Sissy, this is for you with affection. My late mother-in-law used to say that nothing [that] can be said can begin to take away the anguish and the pain of these moments, because grief is the price we pay for love. And how right she was."

Ferguson's late mother-in-law was, of course, Queen Elizabeth. Following the September 11 attacks, Queen Elizabeth said, "grief is the price we pay for love" in an address to victims.

Since, the quote has been used by royals and other world leaders in their tributes to people they've lost. Indeed, following the Queen's passing, her grandson, Prince William, wrote, "My grandmother famously said that grief was the price we pay for love. All of the sadness we will feel in the coming weeks will be testament to the love we felt for our extraordinary Queen. I will honour her memory by supporting my father, The King, in every way I can."

In her tribute, Ferguson also spoke about motherhood, saying she will be there to support Presley's three daughters. "Action is the way we can go forward, we can light the flame. So for Riley, for Harper and Finley and the entire family, we march forward in support of you. All of us are with you. If you just put out your hand we will be there. I will definitely be there."

Following Presley's death, Ferguson took to her Instagram, writing, "You have been my devoted friend for many years and I am here for your family to support and love them. I am deeply saddened my sissy, you are in my heart."

In her eulogy at Graceland, she also read a poem by George Frost, "A Tribute to Their Children." The poem reads as follows:

I’ve had my life and enjoyed every second,
But as it is, another life beckoned.

It’s important to know that I have not gone,
And I hope that, on you all, my light has shone.

Stay in the sunshine, rest never in the shade,
Don’t curse my absence, as this light you’ll evade.

I live in the smiles, the moon, stars and sky,
and I feel eternal pride as I watch you all fly.

And for my darling children who wonder what to do,
Just have a wonderful time, as I will, living through you.

During the memorial, Presley's mother, Priscilla, also delivered a speech, as did Presley's eldest daughter, Riley Keough. In addition, Jerry Schilling (Presley's talent manager), Alanis Morissette, Axl Rose, and Joel Weinshanker spoke.
