Sarah Ferguson, above all, believes in forgiveness and family unity—and applies that ideology to her relationship with her ex-husband, Prince Andrew.

Fergie, the Duchess of York, sat down for an interview with Glamour ahead of the release her second novel, A Most Intriguing Lady, which hit stands today. During the talk, she discussed her years as a royal, her career as a writer, and her family life with daughters Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, whom she shares with her ex.

Prince Andrew was accused on having known about and been involved in former friend and convinced sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's years-long underage sex operation, but his legal team has denied these claims, and he settled a lawsuit with his accuser, Epstein victim Virginia Guiffre, last year. Still, Queen Elizabeth II stripped Andrew of his military titles and patronages due to the scandal, and announced he would be stepping back from royal duties.

While Fergie didn't discuss her ex's sex scandal in the interview, her comment about him is telling. "In 1986 I married a very good man—zip," she said of the Duke of York, while making a zipped lips motion with her hand.

Fergie married Prince Andrew—the youngest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip—in 1986. They welcomes Beatrice and Eugenie, but in 1992 decided to separate. Their divorced was finalized in 1996, and yet, because they've remained on good terms, Fergie and Andrew have continued living together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

When asked how Andrew's situation has impacted their family life, Fergie said, "The thing is, the girls and I are called the tripod," she said. "But it's very sad to see the cruelty given to another, and I feel very strongly that the most important thing is to keep Beatrice and Eugenie and the tripod, and the best way we can win is by [having] success. And my goodness, the girls are incredible at what they do."

"I do believe in family unity. And it's called my three C's: communicate. compromise. compassion. I really believe in that," she added. "I think forgiveness is key."

On that note, when asked by her interviewer about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's current relationship with the royal family, the duchess didn't voice her opinion, and instead only said, "I would say that your actions speak louder than words. I feel really strongly about that."
