Santorini, Greece, Is Getting a New Hotel Next Year — With a Rooftop Garden, Stunning Views, and Private Pool for Each Guest Room

Domes Oramma Santorini is slated to open spring 2024.

Greece-based hospitality group Domes Resorts has made a name for itself by opening properties in the most exclusive and stunning parts of the Greek Islands and Algarve in Portugal. This spring, it's expanding its presence to the island of Santorini, which is famous for its whitewashed houses built into the cliffs above an underwater caldera and the multi-colored beaches made up of white, black, and red lava pebbles.

The new property, Domes Oramma Santorini, will open near the northwestern coastline of Santorini, which is world-renowned for its picturesque blue-domed church that is seen all over social media. The property is also near Ammoudi Bay and Paralia Katharos Beach.

"Our pipeline demonstrates our desire to open new touchpoints for our guests to enjoy Domes’ luxury services and to create even more personalized experiences in the luxury tourism sector whilst, simultaneously, presenting an exclusive opportunity to discover our destinations through a variety of mediums," said George P. Spanos, the CEO of Domes, in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure. "Our portfolio will blend luxury accommodation, fine dining, members’ clubs, well-being, and cultural venues, to cater to our ever-growing and evolving luxury audience."

Domes Oramma Santorini will play upon its location by leaning into the rounded Cycladic look and using local materials like volcanic stone and blonde oak. The result is a neutral palette with dark accents that transfers into the property’s ample outdoor space. The boutique property has just 50 suites and two villas, each with its own private pool.

In addition to calming, earthy decor, Domes’ signature Soma Spa is designed to offer guests a taste of the Ef-zeen lifestyle — the ancient Greek adage for living well. The spa boasts an indoor pool and state-of-the-art gym, and a treatment menu that mix traditional Greek rituals with contemporary wellness techniques.

Beyond its wellness offerings and luxury lodging, the hotel will feature a rooftop garden designed to provide guests with a front-row seat to Santorini’s vibrant sunsets.

The Domes’ signature Makris restaurant sits on the rooftop, showcasing a menu of elevated Greek dishes inspired by the island and its culture. The offerings here are the vision of Athens-raised chef Petros Dimas, who boasts experience in Michelin-starred Greek restaurants. His cooking style relies heavily on seasonal ingredients and a farm-to-table philosophy. A creative cocktail menu rounds out the plentiful rooftop offerings.

The new Santorini property is one of three projects being launched by the Domes brand in 2024. Following the spring debut of Domes Oramma Santorini, 91 Athens Riviera on the Athenian Riviera is slated to roll out a new Domes concept: a private members club with ultra-luxe glamping. (Think high-end tents with private plunge pools.) Later in 2024, Domes Maison Corfu will open on the island of Corfu in a historic mansion.
