Santa Cruz Skateboards Is Celebrating Its 50th Birthday With Upcoming Free Dinosaur Jr. Concert

After over 49 years of skateboard production Santa Cruz Skateboards will be celebrating their 50th Birthday, and what better way to do so than to throw a birthday party at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk?

The company was founded in 1973 by three friends, Richard Novak, Jay Shuirman, and Doug Haut originally as a surfboard brand business. Margins were low and in the midst iof their struggles a friend asked them to make 500 skateboards, which quickly sold, and transformed the brand to primarily focus on building decks.

Here we are nearly 50 years later celebrating a brand whose logo is one of the top recognizable brands in the industry.

And to celebrate, on September 23, they will be throwing a birthday bash with a FREE Dinosaur Jr. concert, starting at 8 o’clock PM. The concert will be taking place at The Beach Stage at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Check out their official poster below!
