We thought for sure this would be a Pinterest fail. A loaf of bread shaped like Santa's head (with the beard and all!) isn't something you see every day. It looks absolutely insane - like only a pro baker could do it … which of course made us want to try our own even more.

Google image "santa bread," and you'll see a good mix of adorable, delicious-looking Santas and terrible, terrifying Santas. So don't do it. It's kinda like looking up possible reasons for your headache (and then think EVERYTHING is wrong with you). Nothing good comes from it. Follow our recipe. You don't even need to like to bake to make it; you just need a vision.

The devil is in the details, not in the dough. Do yourself a favor and use refrigerated French bread dough. If you use Pillsbury (which we majorly suggest), you need 3 tubes. The first is for the head and hat. Roll the dough into a triangle and transfer to a baking sheet. The second tube of dough is for the beard, which you'll roll out into a semi-circle then cut and twist to form the curly locks. The last tube is for all the small details - the nose, the eyebrows, the fluffy ball at the end of Santa's hat.

The easiest way to learn how to decorate this is to watch the video! But here's a simple breakdown. Brush everything, with the exception of the red part of the hat, with olive oil. Sprinkle the beard with Parmesan and the white details of the hat with mozzarella. Dye egg wash red and brush all over the hat. Use pepperoni to make rosy cheeks and olives to make the eyes. BOOM!
