Santa Blows Away The Competition On Race Course At Utah Ski Resort

Santa's known for a few things: delivering presents, an always jolly demeanor, and a masterful talent for guiding airborne reindeer through darkened skies.

But this showing from Santa—filmed by Luke Bredar—which took place on Deer Valley, Utah's NASTAR course, was a new one.

Earlier today, I wrote about how Christmas and white lies go hand in hand. We tell fables to our children to preserve Christmas cheer and hold our tongues between helpings of holiday ham in avoidance of familial fault lines. Preserving Christmas sometimes comes down to tactful embellishment in fables and emotional expressions.

But here, I'm going to have to pull away the veil. Obviously, this isn't Santa—it's someone who really knows their way around a pair of race skis.

Thankfully, TownLift News—who shared this video—provided an obvious hint as to who the mysterious shredder might be via an Instagram tag. Behind the robes and white beard is none other than two-time Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety. And, of course, Ligety needs little introduction.

Deer Valley also shared this video, goading local skiers in the post's caption to try and beat "Santa's" time on the NASTAR course (NASTAR courses are publicly available courses where skiers can compete to set the best time). One commenter was wise to the hustle, writing, "Lol come and beat our 2x Olympic champ💀😂 I've seen Ted ski nobody puts turns down like him I'm good."

Me too, man. I might be a better Scrooge than Santa, but I'm sure as heck not going toe to toe with him on the race course.
